- ERNIE UNIVERSAL

- ERNIE UNIVERSAL is a 2022 Ludwig Universal Series 14"x8" Brass snare with dies cast rims and black-to-black nickel finish. He is ordinarily fitted with a Remo Ambassador brush finish top head and Remo Ambassador hazy snare side head.

- Ludwig Universal snares were first manufactured in the 1920's. 100 years later, they're back!

- Ernie can be tuned to a wide range of tones and played with or without mutes

- The name Ernie jumped out at us when we first laid eyes on him, so that's what he's called!

- SUPER BOB

- SUPER BOB is a 2023 Ludwig Super Brass 14"x6.5" seamless brass snare in lacquered brass finish. He is ordinarily fitted with a Remo Ambassador brush finish top head and Remo Ambassador hazy snare side head.

- The Super Brass snare is as close to a Ludwig Black Beauty snare without the black nickel finish, and was released in 1960 touted as "The answer to every drummer's dream".

- Bob is named after local musical legend Bob Berrigan, who not only ran his own big band back in the day, but also started and grew a music retail empire. Known as Berrigan's Music, at one point in time, Bob had the largest regional chain of music stores in Australia! Bob also gave Michael his first real job way back in 1992.

- MR SPARKLE

- MR SPARKLE is a 2020's Ludwig Classic Maple 14"x5" 7-ply maple snare in red sparkle wrap finish. He is ordinarily fitted with a Remo Ambassador brush finish top head and Remo Ambassador hazy snare side head.

- The Classic Maple is the modern day equivalent of the wood snares that Ludwig have made for nearly 100 years. They are rich and clear, however Mr Sparkle cuts right through because he's on 5" deep.

- Mr Sparkle is named after his red sparkle finish, and is a reference to the Simpsons episode "In Marge We Trust". In this episode Homer phones the Japanese headquarters of the Mr Sparkle company, whose logo bears resemblance to Homer's head.

- OL' RINGY

- OL' RINGY is a 2012 Ludwig Epic Series 14"x6.5" 7-ply Birch/Maple/Birch snare in Mahogany Burst and Smoky Chrome finish. He is ordinarily fitted with a Remo Ambassador brush finish top head and Remo Ambassador hazy snare side head.

- This is the smaller brother of 'The Brick'. it has large amount of resonance and tonality, most likely coming from the relatively thin shell. This can either be featured in your playing, or can be muted to provide a thicker, wetter 80's tone.

- Ol' Ringy is named after his natural tonality, something we really love to incorporate into playing!

- EL KLONKO

- EL KLONKO is a 2012 Ludwig Epic 14"x7" 20-ply 15mm thick Chinese Birch snare in gloss black wrap finish. He is ordinarily fitted with a Remo Ambassador brush finish top head and Remo Ambassador hazy snare side head.

- This snare gained the nickname 'The Brick' owing to its shell thickness (15mm - 20 ply) and consequently its weight.

- El Klonko is named after the rimshot characteristic of this series of drum, which is meant to be very 'klonky'. Although this may be the case, we don't feel this particular drum clonks like a mutha, but it didn't stop us calling him that!

- SHARON

- SHARON is a 2010 Pearl Sensitone 14"x6" alloy steel snare in chrome finish. She is ordinarily fitted with a Remo Ambassador brush finish top head and Remo Ambassador hazy snare side head.

- Sensitone steel snares have been the standard pairing with Pearl's Iconic Export line for decades. They continued this pairing after retiring the 'Export' name and replacing it with the 'Vision' series. Sensitone snares have a fair crack and overtones.

- Sharon got her name because she's  Sharon the Sensitone!

- TAMMY

- TAMMY is a 2010's Tama Artwood 14"x4" Maple snare in dark wood stain and black nickel finish.

- The Artwood snare sits just on the edge of a piccolo snare sizing. It has a sharp attack and very little overtones. Most of its note is generated from the snares.

- Tammy came to us new from the Music store about a decade ago, and she has been an absolute stalwart ever since. Her great sound has had her pull duties as the first call snare for lessons. Fair, enough she's showing a few nicks on the hoops for all her use,. but she is still an amazing sounding instrument.


- Tammy got her name because she's a Tama!

- RIPLEY

- RIPLEY is a vintage 80's Tama 7065 Royalstar 14"x5" steel snare in chrome and patina finish.

- The 7065 Royalstar snare was Tama's first shot as budget professional line drums. It features the one-touch muffler system.

- Ri
pley came to us at the same time we bought Roger the Punk kit from the tip shop. She also cost us only $20, and needed a good amount of restoration to remain intact into the future. As a result she proudly displays all the wear and abuse of her previous years.

- Ripley means "a strip of clearing in the woods', which aptly describes her role within Roger the Punk kit!

- SIMON

- SIMON is a 2010's Tama Steelworks 13"x4" steel snare in matte steel and black nickel finishHe is ordinarily fitted with a Remo Ambassador brush finish top head and Remo Ambassador hazy snare side head.

- This snare makes for a good auxiliary snare alongside a larger, deeper primary snare.

- Simon is called that because he's a Steelworks snare!


- $40 per day
- FRED

- FRED is a Pearl Firecracker 10"x5" 8-ply Poplar snare. He is ordinarily fitted with a Remo Ambassador brush finish top head and Remo Ambassador hazy snare side head.

- Firecrackers produce fast and high pitched tones, yet with a surprising amount of tone due to their 5" depth. They are iconic as auxiliary snares.

- Fred is clearly named after his model name - Firecracker!


- $40 per day
- MONTY

- MONTY is a 2024 Remo Mondo 12" x 9" Snare with Acousticon shell in Earth Brown finish, a Fibreskyn natural batter head and Remo Ambassador hazy snare side head.

- The Mondo Snare was invented in the 90's as a dual purpose instrument, with a hand drum top head and snare drum bottom. This enables the player to use either hands or sticks on the top head in either hand drum mode or snare drum mode.

- Monty is called that because he's a Mondo snare!

- THE ACRO 

- THE ACRO is a vintage mid 70's Ludwig Acrolite 14"x5.5" 8-lug aluminium snare. He is ordinarily fitted with a Remo Ambassador brush finish top head and Remo Ambassador hazy snare side head.

- Vintage Ludwig Acrolites are known the world over as one of the great workhorse snares. Initially made as a student model and little brother to the famous Ludwig Supraphonic, they possess a dry tone owing to their 'Ludalloy' aluminium construction.

- The Acro is clearly named after it's model name - Acrolite!

- THE SUPRA  *recording only*

- THE SUPRA is a vintage mid 70's Ludwig Supraphonic 14"x5.5" 10-lug chrome-over-aluminium snare. He is ordinarily fitted with a Remo Ambassador brush finish top head and Remo Ambassador hazy snare side head.

- Vintage Ludwig Supraphonics are reputed to be the most recorded snare in history. The flagship in Ludwig's steel snare range, they possess a slightly brighter tone than their Acrolite siblings. 

- The Supra is clearly named after it's model name - Supraphonic!

- The Supra is the first snare drum Michael ever owned. It came to him as part of his first drumkit, a 1960's Premier six-piece kit his parents bought from Kevin Booth from two-doors down, for Christmas 1985. The Premier is (sadly) long gone, but The Supra has been with Michael throughout his drumming journey.

- WALLY'S SUPRA  *recording only*

- WALLY'S SUPRA is a vintage 1968 Ludwig Supraphonic 14"x5.5" 10-lug chrome-over-aluminium snare. He is ordinarily fitted with a Remo Ambassador brush finish top head and Remo Ambassador hazy snare side head.

- Vintage Ludwig Supraphonics are reputed to be the most recorded snare in history. The flagship in Ludwig's steel snare range, they possess a slightly brighter tone than their Acrolite siblings. 

- Wally's Supra is the snare drum that belongs with Wally's Kit, a 1968 Ludwig Superclassic four-piece maple kit in Black Oyster finish, purchased and lovingly played by Wally Smith of Newcastle for 42 years. After his passing, Wally's family held onto his kit for nine more years, before finally deciding to find a new owner who would cherish and care for it as much as Wally did. We are privileged to be chosen by them to look after Wally's kit for him!
